Section 1 - INTRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE:
In this Section, you will be introduced to hydrogen sulfide and learn its physical properties, effects on humans, and where hydrogen sulfide may be found.
Section 2 - EXPOSURE CONTROL:
In this Section, you will learn the various methods used to detect and monitor H2S in the work place. Whenever and wherever possible, Integrity will use engineering controls and/or administrative controls to protect workers from exposure to H2S and respiratory protective equipment is provided, where necessary, to protect employees from H2S. In this section, the various types of protective equipment available to protect the employees will be discussed, and finally you will learn safe operating practices for working where H2S is present or may be present.
Section 3 - ACCIDENTAL EXPOSURE:
In this Section, you will learn about an emergency response plan and the importance of having a well-planned guide to put into effect in case of accidental exposure. You will also be shown the proper steps to take if an emergency rescue is required.
Section 4 - RESCUE CARRIES & CPR:
In this Section, since the first priority in rescuing a victim from an H2S atmosphere is to protect yourself!, to assist a victim knocked down by H2S, you must know the proper rescue and resuscitation skills. If you don’t, you could put yourself and the victim at risk. We know the brain can only survive for four to six minutes without a continuous supply of oxygen. That is why your goal is to get the victim(s) to fresh air as quickly as possible. For this reason, as part of your pre-job safety meeting, you should discuss and practice a rescue plan designed to get the victim(s) to fresh air and to resuscitate them within 3 minutes.
In this Section, you will learn Rescue Carries and CPR.
There is no pre-requisite for attending this course.
